The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CE.R.T.H.), is one of the largest research centers of Northern Greece, it was founded in March 2000 and is a legal, private law, non-profit organization, under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), of the Greek Ministry of Development. |
The mission of CERTH is to carry out basic and applied research with emphasis in developing new products and services with industrial, economic and social impact, in the following areas: |
- Chemical engineering and materials processes
- Information, telematics and telecommunications
- Transportation
- Agrobiotechnology and food processes control
- Improved and integrated technologies for the
- exploitation of solid fuels and alternative energy sources

| Chemical Process Research Engineering Institute - CPERI |
The Chemical Process Engineering Research Institute (CPERI) was founded in 1985 in Thessaloniki, Greece. From 1987 to March 2000, CPERI was part of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH). |
In March 2000, CPERI became a founding member of the new research center, the National Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), established in Thessaloniki. CERTH reports to the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Ministry of Development. |
CPERI's new research facilities, built with the financial support of European Union and GSRT, are located at the Technology Park of Thessaloniki (TPT) in Thermi. |
Currently, six laboratories, organized into three research and development divisions, are in full operation at the Institute. The activities of the laboratories are supported by a horizontal technical division, which involves the large pilot-plant units and the analytical department. More specifically, the present organization of CPERI has as follows: |
